Baby birds outside my door

This is a photo of some baby birds living in the hanging petunia outside my kitchen door. They don't have a nest because... I removed it a few weeks ago when it first appeared, thinking that would make Mama Bird go away. Being just outside my door and constantly wet -- from watering the plant -- it was not the best of locations.

But she laid eggs there anyway. I kept watering the plant, assuming the eggs would not hatch (since the mom was gone so much, she'd fly away every time we opened the door or walked through the kitchen). Dang if they didn't hatch anyway. So, I stopped watering the plant (didn't want to drown them). Now I have a dead plant. And three so-ugly-they're-cute little peeps.

This is what they do as soon as they sense someone nearby. "FEED US!!!"
